I have hunted high and low but cannot find any pre-war British or other championship results except for one in 1937. It was the European Championship in Rotterdam which was won by Walter Mackerth. Just a line to that effect in one of the chapters, nothing else.
EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP 1937 - Rotterdam, Holland - Walter Mackereth (England).

What validity can we place on the 1937 European Championship won by Walter Mackereth Where does the fact come from? Was there midget car racing in Holland in the mid-1930s. It's no good putting names to championships possibly on just an old memory.

It's no good putting names to championships possibly on just an old memory. In the site's list of European champions, the 1937 Rotterdam meeting is obviously recognised. The amazing thing is that after several years no member has yet come forward with proof that the event ever took place? It must surely have been publicised somewhere - maybe in a programme for that year. What other drivers took part? That's if it ever took place.

You are looking at the wrong year, the Rotterdam meeting took place in late 1936.
Somewhere the results of this meeting can be found on the web. I'm sorry but I can't remember where! I think it was on the histotic Autosport forum.

Is there a more experienced member who knows where the meeting results can be found. And has the site administrator made the correction in regard to the result, which I think is crucial.

The attached cutting refers to Rotterdam but the writing, about Val Atkinson, says that he "joined up with Harry Skirrow three years ago (the article was 1938) and accompanied Skirrow and Walter Mackereth to Rotterdam where the two Northerners smashed all records." It's not definitively saying that the Rotterdam meeting was three years prior to the article but it does at least offer some anecdotal reference in print. It's from the Midland Daily Telegraph in July 1938. Attachments:

I do realise the meeting was some 80 years ago!!!
