It is NOT Spike Rhiando in the car, but research shows it is the Trimax he built in the early 1950s. This is information I have found about the car:
* 1950 Legendary Monocoque F3/500 – with 750cc and 1100cc options. * Built by the colourful speedway rider Spike Rhiando on aircraft principles and raced in 1950/51 at Goodwood, Silverstone and Blandford and Rest.and.be.Thankful [see You Tube!] * Sold to USA and raced with variety of engines including Harley Davidson. * Was in Jack Mayes’ collection in Chicago for many years until repatriated by Duncan Rabagliati * Created immediate interest on display at Goodwood. * Meticulously restored by Tony Steele and Keith Roach. * Raced at Snetterton and Oulton Park Gold Cup * Refurbished JAP 500cc motor. * A probable invitation to the next 500 race at Goodwood in 2011 * Offers £32000 or over to Duncan [duncanrabagliati@gmail.com]

This is the Trimax in its hey-day, sadly no sign of Spike though! I have pix of him driving Cooper 500's but not yet the Trimax. I expect one will come along one day... Incidentally, that photo of the restored version looks like a completely different car and it's all down to those wheels, which are very "500 racing car" but nothing like the extremely 1940's hub caps Spike used originally. I'd have to locate a set of those if I owned that car. Attachments:
