My only offering on this year is Billy Murden who had 3 match races with Frank Brewer & lost all 3.

As the USA team competed in the UK in 1948 shouldn't they be listed on here? Plus, of course, dear old Billy Murden - never a star but how he loved racing midget cars. Didn't he start at Crystal Palace in 1934 when the formula was born in the UK?

Where did Billy Murden's 3-0 match race defeat against Frank 'Satan' Brewer take place? And didn't Brewer - or his promoter - decline a similar clash against Walter Mackereth and Frank Chiswell. The year would have been 1948. Probably Brewer & Co knew the 4wd Skirrows of Mackereth and Chiswell would have been a harder proposition than Murden's self-built car?
