I had contact from the BBC today who make a series about missing people - sadly it seems Malcolm Goodman, Multi Midget Champ and 1973 Hot Rod English Champion went missing from the nursing home he was living in back in September. A long shot posting on here but if anyone does have any info the obviously please get in touch.

Many of you will know that we appealed for information about Malcolm Goodman who went missing from his home last year. I am very sad to report that he has passed away. Malcolm was without doubt one of the greats in the Midgets - he joined the Midgets when still a Spedeworth formula after a period in Hot Rods - he had been a success in that class too and indeed won the 1973 English Championship beating the likes of Derek Fiske, George Polley and Barry Lee into 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively on a November night at Wimbledon. In GP Midgets he initially raced a Fireball Mk4 and went on to many successes including three national points titles which significantly included the first merged roster (possibly the biggest driver listing in the formula's history with Spedeworth/MARC drivers) in 1975. Our thoughts are of course with his family and friends.

That's very sad but not entirely unexpected (at least by me) news. Thanks for letting us know Richard. Do you have any further info. about the exact circumstances surrounding his disappearance and subsequent demise? I'd quite understand if the family don't want that in the public domain just now though.

1984 GP Midget World Champion Alf Boarer paid tribute to Malcolm today: "He was my mentor when I went into Midget cars as a young man and we spent some fantastic times together racing as friends and competitors prior to his nasty accident on a trials bike later in life and we will always remember him from those glory Midget car race days."

I think as a small tribute to Malcolm Goodman that it would be nice to have a photo/s of him in this thread.
Malcolm Goodman, RIP.
