Peter Jopp bought Les Leston car in the early 70s as Les Leston business was taking to much of his time

As I remember it Les Leston's Garage was in Bromley, Kent. As kids we used to sit on the railings by the Beechwood Estate where I grew up (?) on the Farnborough Bypass and early evening Les would blast down there in his race car to visit Epp's Garage at the end of Green Street Green. Then later he would blast back again to Bromley.
This may seem pretty risky, but in doing it he had to pass Farnborough Police Station but we never saw him being chased.
Another memory of sitting on those railings was seeing a motorcycle rider laying flat on his seat/petrol tank and going as fast as he could. I later realised that he was emulating the great Rollie Free who rode a Vincent Black Lightning (in his bathing trunks) in the same fashion to break the 150pmh mark at Bonnieville.
I was privileged to meet Rollie in 1980 at a Vincent rally in California - a great man for sure.
Happy memories
