The site for national champions is a good idea but how are you going to sort out as the main one for the United Kingdom where there's British, National and English championships. It looks as though every meeting is a big championship - tends to take away their importance IMO.

The sensible thing would be to use the points championship which takes the entire season into account.

Believe you won't get two many names if you follow that route - Rob and Harry Sayall had it tied up for the best part of 15 years. Must admit I like the front (or side) engined Cheetah taking the points a couple of times just lateley but you're probably looking back to the 1970's if you are looking for the previous classic front engine design winner.

Well, Harry and Rob were class acts. I used to keep track of the front engine champion each year and also from meeting to meeting as it added another dimension to the reporting. Actually the fact that the championship can be won by either front or rear engine cars makes the formula all the more interesting than many others on the ovals these days.
