These photos are intriguing but beyond that I for one am completely baffled. So seemingly it would appear at the moment are other members of our group. But I am sure that in time somebody will be able to answer the query. The car certainly looks to be purpose built but was the photo taken in the UK? It could be from anywhere in the world. We may need to call in Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson to solve this mystery. Queries like this are all part of the fun of delving into midget car history.

No track that I know, that's for sure. Gut feel says this is not in the UK and might...might perhaps be Holland or somewhere in Scandinavia? The car doesn't look like a USA or Oz/NZ racer. I suppose I should ask, Marco, how you came by the pic and how do you know the car has a Lancia engine? Perhaps there's a clue there somewhere.

On further thought it has occurred to me that the car may not have been constructed for racing on either the dirt tracks or on big formula circuits but may have been built for use in hill climbs? These type of cars were very pouplar in hill climb events some years back - but it would be nice to find that this car did have midget car racing links.

The whole thing is beyond me but it's the sort of good debating stuff that seems to come up on here from time. There are already some comments in regard to the initial request which I quote and now I hope that after some of the forum's experts go though the b;og we'll find out more. I just wish I had the knowledge to help. I hope other forum members enjoy the blog link as much as I did - and will again on further visits.

Like totox33 I would also like to know more about this midget. Where did totox33 get it from? If we knew that perhaps we could start some backtracking as tp its origins. I take it the car is in France at the moment? But as mentioned by another poster I think it was built for hill climbs rather than dirt track racing?

In regard to Marius dal bo in Annecy who built the midget - weren't they a French racing team also involved in big car circuit F2 or F3 racing at one-time in the late 1960s and early 1970s. I think their top driver was Trevor Blokdyk, a former South African international speedway rider.
I would be interested to know if forum colleague totox33 is based in France as well?
When he bought the midget was he not given any information in regard to its previous racing history? To try and delve into its background we need some antecedence in reference to its background - a small clue and then we can get start digging around.
Looking at the midget's design (if it is technically a midget for track racing) the style of it leans to the mid-1970s as I see it. If it did appear in midget racing it never came to England but might have appeared in Holland and/or Germany when midgets were popular in those countries.

The year the car was built has already been established as 1954 - a long way off the since mid-1970s as has been suggested by fastfire.
