These cars definitely competed on dirt ovals in Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Some of the tracks used were 1000 meter trotting tracks and others were smaller speedway ovals. They even ran on some ice ovals as well.
When the FIA came up with the international Formula 3 class, they stipulated that the 500cc cars had to race on tracks of over 1500 meters in length in order to be recognized on the international calendar.
