The following is posted on the Rye House Press Release dated August 8 2012. It occurs to me that the event is something that could be studied by the Grand Prix Midget Car Club, with a follow-up possibly to that formula also getting similar treatment at the Hoddesdon track::
Quads Set For Rye Preliminary discussions have taken place to introduce Quad team racing to Rye House Speedway with four man teams contesting six speedway style races as a second half attraction. Although to be confirmed very soon, the plan is to run Rye House v Leicester on Bank Holiday Monday August 27. Full details and confirmation will follow as soon as possible. During a Quad practice session at Hoddesdon recently all of the spectators were astonished at the speed and skill of the Quad racers, leading Rye House promoter Len Silver to comment, "This will prove to be a major spectacle on our banked circuit and I am delighted to have the opportunity to present them."

May I ask what a Quad is and does it have any similarity to a midget car? I always though that Quads were an upgrading of karts? Anyone got a photo of one to post on the site please?

They look like this. For some reason, these things seem to be getting a bit of exposure lately on short ovals. I believe there has been at least one complete race meeting at Oxford? They must be just the right side of the car-or-bike line, otherwise Uncle Len Silver wouldn't allow them anywhere near his track! I'm guessing they are viewed as light enough to not damage the track surface, bearing in mind he couldn't wait to get rid of stock cars etc, from Rye House. I have seen Quads raced on a short oval, indoors at the NEC. Not dreadful but didn't get my juices running either, and for something out of the ordinary to do that in there, it has to be the Class 9 grass track cars. Now those, I could see taking off (probably literally!) as a stadium racing class. Attachments:
