OK guys, can anybody help me with this? I've had this photo for a number of years. It came as part of a job lot, most of which I've gradually identified with time - but not this one. The lettering on the bonnet says "Comanche", so I'm guessing that's what it is. But does anybody know anything about what a/the Comanche was, who's driving it, when, and what track he might be at? All donations gratefully received! John, please feel free to shift this to the appropriate era and section if we find out. Attachments:

Right, it's taken a while, but I've finally answered (or at least partially) my own question. In amongst a load of papers etc, that I've acquired from John, there was a small photocopied picture. I'd always been under the impression that the Atom car existed in splendid isolation and that nobody ever built "a playmate" for it to race against. Apparently this was not the case! The other car in shot is definitely The Comanche. So now the question is, who built it, are they the person driving it and, of course, what happened to it? Attachments:

That'a good point. Is it a Charles Batson midget - the one he ran demo races in for a time along with Percy Brine and Darkie Wright? Somewhere on site there's a photo of Percy in a midget - and while I have not browsed for the photo, on my memory (not always sharp) there does seem to be a similarity to the car shown on the photo clip and the one Percy is seen with. I think the Percy Brine photo was taken at Rye House or Aldershot

The Percy Brine photo is in VARIOUS MIDGET CARS, almost at bottom of threads, with Charles Batson as the subject name.

Funny John, I was thinking the Comanche had a bit of a Charles Batson look about it. But that car you've identified in Various Midgets isn't the Comanche, even if it does look a bit similar. We can say for sure that Comanche was a contemporary of The Atom (1955) while this other car seems to date from '57 and, dare I say it, doesn't look as nice or well built as Comanche.
