Progressive 600 midgets staged some meetings at Stoke in 1953. Is any more known about the class?

The year you give is wrong. It was most likely 1993 - I think the drivers included Glyn Taylor (Australia) and Rod Pashley (England). About 10 meetings took place - all very poorly attended according to the information I have.

Progressive 600 Midgets ran at Stoke during 1993, 1994 and 1995 1993 every single meeting, with the exeption of a "Press day" the heavens opened to the point that boat racing would have made more sense. 1994 was better,(maybe because I only drove a handful of meetings LOL) Not sure about 1995, exept that the first meeting on a bike speedway meeting (which was always the iam of the "Progressives" the midgets were delayed to the point that they no more than a couple of laps before the local "curfew" stopped the race. That appears to be the end of them. Made sense

Glyn Taylor raced in one meeting only (I think in one race only), and was considerably quicker than anybody else.....without any practice, if I remember rightly.
