The Namicsa of the early 1980s lasted less than a year. Drivers associated with it include Ian Fraser Kerr, Geoff Rumble, Tony Stubbs, Brian Spicer, Dermot McGivern, Pete and John Smith.

There are were quite a few references in the media. Did they actually do any meetings? Guessing Speedway second halves.

ReflThere are were quite a few references in the media. Did they actually do any meetings? Guessing Speedway second halves. Looking back on the happenings concerning the National Midget Car Speedway Association from the early 1980s. Basically it was a disaster.. One of their first ventures was to hold a drivers meeting in Putney. Just two Namicsa drivers - Dermott McGivern and Tony Stubbs attended. The other drivers there were from the GPMC who made clear their views on the venture and warned Namicsa of its potential failings. Three speedways Wimbledon, Hackney and Exeter showed an interest in giving Namicsa race times. The Exeter invitation never took place because they held their weekly meetings on Monday evenings and most Namicsa drivers were London area based.. Then Hackney promoter Len Silver offered the facility of a Saturday afternoon practice to take place before a speedway practice. Pete and John Smith, Tony Stubbs. Geoff Rumble and Dermot McGivern attended this. The cars had a reasonable amount of time until Silver arrived. He said he was 'horrified' at the way the cars were damaging the track surface and halted the session. Wimbledon gave two practice sessions - one was early morning about 8am and the other at mid-day. Two drivers attended the morning session - McGivern and Stubbs, while the afternoon venture was only attended by McGivern. Wimbledon then booked six drivers - McGivern, Stubbs, Pete and John Smith, Brian Spicer and Geoff Rumble for a London Championship at the end of the second-half of a speedway meeting. This hit a problem when the tapes failed and the race was under a flag start. I hink the winner was McHivern. Spectatorwise hardly anyone attending the speedway meeting stayed on to watch the midgets. After that Namicsa faded from the midget car scene - most drivers reverting to GP Club membership.
