Please find below a list of UK qualifiers, in order, for this years World Championship race. Continental drivers will be inserted in relevant rows by the committee on the day and non-qualifiers will start from the back in graded order.
Jonathan Pooley is aiming not only to win the title for the fifth time in a row but also equal the record or six World titles set by German ace Klaus Kilianski. Jonathan is the only driver on the grid to have won the title before.

No overseas representation this year which is a pity. When I posted the above on the Midgets website I somehow overlooked Rob Sayell's six World titles as well as Klaus's - must have been a mature moment.
I really do think it is about time that the club looked at the various titles they run - The main aim has always got to be the overall season long club points championship - and therein lies the clue... "club". I'd give a number of the titles a rest - World, European, National and British until there was some competition from other countries or parts of the UK. I would make the Graham Hill Trophy the jewel in the crown - it's got some real heritage and history within the club. I doubt if the club would agree with that though...

I agree about world and European championships especially. To have any serious recognition outside the club they MUST have drivers from countries other than th UK involved in them. There is "another" midget car world championship running for drivers from Australia, New Zealand and the USA, with points scoring rounds taking place in all three countries. Nearer to home, there should have been Dutch drivers in this year's championships - and maybe Klaus Killianski (Germany) could have been tempted to take part?

THIS IS MOW A POST ON FACEBOOK MIDGET CAR PANORAMA::: ::::::::::::::::::
Richard John NeilGrand Prix Midgets OK, here's one to set the cat among pigeons... I think it's about time the club considered dropping the World, European, National and British titles. The main aim and prestige has always got to be the overall season long club points championship - and therein lies the clue... "club". I'd give the World, European, National and British titles a rest until there was some competition from other countries or parts of the UK. I would make the Graham Hill Trophy the jewel in the crown of the standalone races - it's a genuine enough trophy. I'd be interested to see if anyone can come up with good reasons why any of those other titles should still be raced for.

Allen Herbert It's a very good idea Richard. I suggested dropping the world and European 4 or 5 yrs ago and got shot down in flames..... 3 hrs · Like · 4
Anne Sayell I agree. the World and European is meaningless without other countries competing. a world or European should include drivers from outside England and be a race of attrition of 40 laps minimum against tough competition. car numbers and rule changes dropping it to 20-25 laps has reduced its credibility for the public and it's hardly more than a slightly longer than normal race these days. Shame but I miss the days of 6-8 Dutch and German drivers coming over for a 2 day world or European meet. even if they did come with bigger engines. it's not often Allen and I agree but on this one I am right with you ! 3 hrs · Like · 5
Anne Sayell re the graham hill the continental drivers used to come over for that and it was regarded by them as something very special. given that Graham's wife gave it to the Club you could give it a lot if hype. 2 hrs · Like · 4
Allen Herbert I've never known anyone outside Europe to race with us,but I know that a lot of countries have midgets....the European was justified, but I've always considered the world as a farce. And I'm not saying that because I havnt been a contender for it,it's just my honest opinion. I probably won't get re elected next year now lol. 2 hrs · Like
Allen Herbert Anne,I'm sure we have agreed on other things! 2 hrs · Like
Allen Herbert I guess an easy way to put it into perspective is to say let's have a world championship in football but it will only be played by teams in our premiership 2 hrs · Like · 1
Neil Clarke If it had not been for financial problems there would have been two foreign drivers this year. Drop the titles and you won't get foreigners again.... ever 2 hrs · Like · 1
David Bonser I've always asked why challenge for the world/euro/british when 100% of current drivers are English. Atleast the National has some meaning to it. 2 hrs · Like
Gary Piper I agree, I said this back in the 90's drop the world as it was meaningless. But other oval formulas still do the same. 2 hrs · Like
Louise Piper For what it is worth, the 40 lappers were good to watch, and a good way of sorting drivers. The European was fun, but needed either to be over the channel or with some guests. 2 hrs · Like
David Bonser Can't see any foreigners bothering anymore Neil, it costs way to much to get over here for one day and the scheepens said they wouldn't bring both cars over again after the last two world finals when they had lots of bad luck and cost them €€€'s Plus 25 laps is no where near enough as Anne said. 2 hrs · Like · 2
Louise Piper And of course, who can forget the added attraction of the miss bikini competition!!!! 2 hrs · Like
Allen Herbert I hear what you are saying Neil, but with no tracks to race on in Europe,we will struggle with foreign drivers. I'd love to offer the Scheepens family money from the club to take part, but with the majority of club membership going to incarace,it's not possible. I'm not saying no to the European or British finals, but the world needs to be dropped. 2 hrs · Like · 1
Gary Piper Also as per Richard John Neil post the Graham hill trophy should be the jewel. 1 hr · Like · 3
Richie Scheepens I agree with Neil Clarke and David Bonser as well... maybe an idea to look for some other options to make it possible for us to come over... If we could afford it we deffinitely want to come over... even with 2 cars!!! Perhaps a meeting in The Netherlands would be great for once, Venray raceway perhaps he is interested... maybe even with some pricemoney from them??? You could always try... or some sponsorship for us to come over to You guys and make it a real world and euro... 1 hr · Like · 4
David Bonser Would be good to see you back Richie Scheepens maybe have a speed weekend over here to contest the euro and graham hill?im sure the club could come up with some sponsorship to help with the costs to get over here one way or another. 1 hr · Like · 1
Dermott McGivern The European interaction has always made sense, some of the euro tracks are economically more viable than some in the far reaches of the UK . why not spend more time on aligning the regs and racing too full grids and greater unity. we all need to combine and grow or face decline through a lack of numbers. 1 hr · Edited · Like · 1
Gary Piper Dermot I thought you were a euro sceptic 1 hr · Like
Dermott McGivern I am euro balanced.. Like Marmite. 1 hr · Like · 1
Sascha Paar Problem is there is no real UK spec Midget racing outside UK anymore so far I know and to intruduce such a class again on mainland europe is I think nearly impossible. We have one open wheeler class here and even that has not much riders and attraction to the spectators. 1 hr · Like
Marc Deland I have to agree with you Richard, i was going to put that forward at the next AGM, I have all ready had a chat to Alan Herbert about this matter. 52 mins · Like
Josef Kilianski Not just a new name for the race, but also a 40 or 45 round rennen. No Poins grid, lap time. 40 mins · Like · 2
Richie Scheepens I agrea laptimes for qualifing and more Laps like old times 24 mins · Like · 1
Marc Deland Any idea what the Pooley family views are on this? As it does seem most of us drivers do agree that a change is needed. 14 mins · Like
Allen Herbert I also agree with josef Josef Kilianski about lap times and number of laps. We walk run on transponders now,all we need is 3 or 4 laps. Can have any number of cars out at once, split the grid so they start opposite sides of track then have a few warm up laps then a fast lap for position. European should be 40 laps minimum. Won't happen this year as we have only had 25 laps for world final
