There were meetings at Arlington (Eastbourne) in the 1940s where I think Fay Taylour and Spike Rhiando were the main exponents? Possibly also Walter Mackereth and Billy Murden? But the key centre for the revival came when Dave Hughes had the Brafield track near Northampton built at the end of the 1940s. Elsewhere on the site there's quite a lot of reference to that era which should be of use to the researchers who instigated this section but now sadly seem to have disappeared? And of course the 1940s musn't forget the 1948 visit of the American squad.

Midget Car Racing “BRAFIELD PLANS ARE NOT ABANDONED” - (source - Northampton Mercury 22 July 1949)
BECAUSE Nortnampton Rural District Council have refused him permission to stage midget car racing on the recently-completed circuit at Brafield, Mr. David Hughes, the Cogenhoe baker and confectioner, is temporarily transferring to the Arlington speedway at Eastbourne. There, beginning on July 31, he intends putting on weekly midget car racing with the machines and drivers which, but for the refusal of the rural council, would be racing at Brafleld. This does not mean that we have abandoned our plans for Brafleld,” Mr. Hughes stated. ‘‘We are consulting legal authorities regarding the council’s decision. Spike Rhiando, the 500 c.c. car driver, has been largely instrumental in securing the Arlington speedwav for the use of the local midget enthusiasts. He will take part in the racing in his own midget car, as will Vic Patterson, who played a big part In popularising midget car racing before the war.
