Any clues as to this USA midget car - probably from the 1940s? Attachments:

I doubt very much if this is a midget car. More likely from the immediate post WW2 period and is most likely a Roadster from the transition period that saw the introduction of sprint cars?

This looks like what is often called a "Super Modified" speedway car. Not much relation to Midgets, these are more of a basic 'sportsman' type of Sprintcar. By the look of the quality of the bar work, suspension etc. it is considerably newer than the 40's. My guess 1980's or later (unless its had considerable upgrading since the 60's & 70's.)
The So-Cal 40's speedway roadsters were a very limited modification, budget formula. Usually consisting of combinations of Ford T, A & 32 stock bodies, frames & running gear.

Super Modifieds look great and we need something similar in the UK. Non-ironed up superstox were suggested here a while back if I recall but there was no take up response and I can't seem to find that original message at the moment. I was surprised the idea didn't get a follow up when first put to our members? A good testing place for the formula might be - if they still take place - the Saturday evening Rolling Thunder meetings at Arena Essex.

Do you mean the midget as seen in the Avatar for 18mybigtoe?
I am optimistic that once you have moved around the forum we'll see some interesting comments in regard to the pre-war era.
Welcome aboard!

The only car shown in the first Posted message has been confirmed as NOT being a midget. Also, it would be nice to have some car details about your Dad who was Les White. And, am I right in the assumption that his brother also raced Skirrows at some time in the late 1930s?
