Hi folks - I've got a programme from Cradley from 1966, A "Cavalcade of Thrills" featuring Speedway, Scrambles bikes, a Motorcycle Stunt Team and Speedcars - Can anybody tell me anything about these speedcars please? Are they Mike Parkers cars? and does anybody have a photo of them at all please?
According to the notes in the prog the cars had a tubular steel chassis with a BSA 650cc twin-cylinder engine, solid rear axle, 10" front wheels and 14" on the rear. The drivers were Jim Williamson, Graham Beatty, Ron Lea, Brian Oliver, Goog Allan and Jack Winstanley... if these cars have been mentioned somewhere on the forum before I'd apprciate being pointed in the right direction.

Hi Adrian. If this is the programme to which you refer, the clue is right there on the inside cover, where it says 'Promoted by Cradley Heath Stadium in conjunction with Mike Parker International', followed by 'Clerk of the Course - Mike Parker'. The Speedcars are indeed so-called Parker Midgets and there is a photo of a typical car (on fire!) on the outside rear cover. The re-naming of the cars was probably due to it being an attempt to revive interest in this type of midget racing. Essentially, Parker Midgets had ceased to exist well before 1966, so this was probably something in the nature of a 're-launch'. See more about Parker Midgets here: midgetcarpanorama.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=whosaid&action=display&thread=13Attachments:

Thanks for all the information guys - yes that is the prog I have, but the photo on the back cover is so poor quality that I wasn't sure it was the same sort of cars... I knew you guys would give me the answer I needed . RE Graham Beattie/Beatty - his name is spelt both ways in the programme and yes he was a former speedway novice at Belle Vue in the 1950s
