As promised on other thread, here are a couple of Original 1948 Black & white photos from Art Hartfield, who drove the # 1 car on that circuit. Fortunately, all of his original photos have his nice long captions/descriptions on the backs. (shown here in quotation marks) First one is a good shot of the stadium. A good close up look shows how easily the lights can be reversed from covering the inner (cinder coveerd, midget racing) track, by swinging them around to cover the outer (dog-racing)track. His caption for this one: "Stamford Bridge Stadium, 1948, London, England Dog race track on outside. Short 1/4 mile cinder on inside. It was later paved."

"Loading one of the lorries to go to Whitesbridge Track, southwest London. My #1 at back of lorry, just loaded" It clearly shows Bill Martin's # 35, and Speed Boardman's # 67, in front of Hatfield's #1. Both of those cars are featured near the beginning of the Pathe News film clip, referenced in the other thread on this forum.
