Interesting looking cars - they are not all Skirrows obviously, and I don't think there's an Elto in sight either.

All seem to be rear wheel drive, so no skirrows......from what I can see, they all appear to be based on light car chassis, also the car on the left, and the centre car, have brakes fitted. Dont know enough to identify them, but I bet someone on here can.

Well, I can assure you both I don't know enough either, but the car on the far right is a Salmson - it says so on the badge fitted to the grille. Still open to offers about the other two!
It's a great photo, by the way. I have seen this pic before, but as a reproduction of a magazine or newspaper photo, and it was spoilt by screen clash, etc. Even with the damaged edges, this is much nicer and a real 'find', thanks John.

A nice old photo and much better than the copy I have.
Having looked at the photo over the past few years I'm still not sure who they all are. I think we can be pretty sure that the Salmson on the right is Les White.
The car on the left looks very similar to the Riley special that Jimmy Raynes drove.
The car in the middle is difficult, it looks similar to the car that Billy Murden drove in Sweden, but as Ron Wills hailed from the Barnet area it may well be him! I've also read an article somewhere that Vic Patterson made his Midget car debut there and that he borrowed a car of Wills. Who knows, one day someone might come up with answer.

I hope I have got this attachment right!!! The cars in the photo are the Sullman Singer special and a Riley Special driven by Jimmy Raynes. The Raynes car is identical to the car on the left of the Barnet photo, so I think we can safely say that car is a Riley. I believe the photo was taken at Woudestein 1936, if you look closely to the right of the photo there is a guy standing on a van filming the event. So somewhere in Holland there just might be a film recording of the event!!! All we now need is a Dutch enthusiast to check it out!!!!!!!! Derek Bridgett Newcastle-under-Lyme Attachments:

Excellent info as always Derek, thanks! I've seen that pic before somewhere but didn't know what, who or where. Wonder if that movie footage survived the war and may still exist somewhere...
