What an interesting item the 1935 Johnny Hoskins article is. I am glad to say he found soemthing like his desired midgets when he ran the Parker 500 cars at Belle Vue in the 1960s. I must say though that I think a lot of Johnnie's comments in 1935 are just the usual blah blah for which he was famous and not anti-midget cars for in the article I think I detect an underlying love for the midgets and his hope that they will (as it was from a 1935 viewpoint) eventually make a big breakthruogh on the British speedway scene but sadly that's something we are all waiting for 76 years onwards.

The final part (three) of the Johnnie Hoskins article. ![]() JSH Midgets 1935 3.jpg [/img]
Reading the items by Johnny Hoskins I guess the American midget car being brought to the UK was the Elto, which Mr E Spence took to Belle Vue at this time?

That would be a very good guess...I am not aware of any others being imported from the USA at that time. According to E O Spence, (In a 1935 programme) other promoters had also looked at American Midgets, and were critical about his plans .
