Lol! I was just thinking about Stoke, Ez! Progressive 600 rides again! Seriously, I wonder how Steve Rees feels about Midgets? It's not like the speedway team are going to get a choice about sharing "their" track with cars at Loomer Road any more...

I did hear that, after the B.V. midget races, and Sheffield as well, that the phone didnt stop ringing for a couple of days, wanting to know when the Midgets would be back.....

Stoke speedway finally gave the progressives a second half appearance, (2 races, after the speedway meeting) they delayed the cars to the point that they got ONE lap before the curfew.......

Take a look on this section for the thread 'What and When' because there's quite a lot of debate there about Arne Jonsson's Eurosprinter which now appears to have been reborn as Project 2011. One of the posts mentioned the prototype was then up for sale on ebay - is this it?

It's the same car alright, ytf. The photo that was on the eBay advert was almost identical to the first photo in the current batch. I assume the price finally became an offer Ben or Rod couldn't refuse!

Not Guilty!! I am aware of who aquired it, but it wasn't either Ben or me. I most likely will be involved in updating it to modern midget spec

This is really exciting - now it looks as though there are two of the Eurosprinters about?

Now THATS how rumours start, and history can be altered LOL I am only aware of one. incedentally, Arne Jonsson always referred to it as a Midget, inspired by USA midget racing, NOT a sprint car. I think (I dont know for certain) that the name "Eurosprinter" was something to do with his company, rather than a name for the car......

Having now had personal contact with the so-called "Eurosprinter", and re-visited the "What and Where" discussion on this site, I now retract all I said about the "eurosprinter", it is in fact, slightly smaller than most current GP Midgets, but taller. Apart from detail work, it is well within most of GPMC Spec.

Yeah, sorry Toby and Rod, my fault. I had erroneously assumed the car was now part of Team Pashley. It's good that it's going to make a comeback though, I always thought that it was a shame that car never really saw any action. Although, judging by the colour scheme and number, it has been doing something since I last saw it, when it was yellow.
Incidentally Rod, I think the die is cast now and that car is always going to be known as "The Eurosprinter", whatever Arne originally intended!

Is this all heralding a return of the ill-fated NaMICSA?

Post by rodpashley on Mar 31, 2011 22:30:02 GMT 1
No, NaMICSA was aimed at Speedway promoters, if midgets have any chance of dirt racing, they may need to throw themselves on the mercy of Stock car promoters, or go it alone......no plans have been made in any direction. Incedentally, Scotland appears to be developing its own Midget cars, rear engines only, one make of engine only........
