John, I took these Skirrow photos at the joint New South Wales Vintage speedcar and Australian speedway riders Christmas picnic in Sydney last Sunday December 5 2010. The story is that the car has been bought from USA recently by a Sydney collector and this was the first public showing. I think it went from England to a museum in Florida where it has been for a number of years. Regards Tony Webb.

This Skirrow has been debated in other places on the forum but I can't seeem to find them despite some diligent searching. Can any member outside there guide me down please?

Most of the discussion you refer to will be found under 'Midget Car Items For Sale', then click on 'Rare Original Skirrow For Sale'.
Unfortunately, some of the original postings have disappeared now (it looks like they were deleted by the person who posted them in the first place) which means you will need to make some intuitive leaps in order to follow the thread.

You are right about some of the original postings being taken down. I remember they dealt with prelims mainly for the sale of the Skirrow then in Canada. they were great stuff and had some great photos as well. Now we've lost a bit of speedway history. Only an original poster or admin can take them off the site. I wonder which of them it was. Good job the car has now turned up in Australia.

The Skirrow is in good hands. I think the plan is to put the car back to its correct pre-WW2 spec.

Yes, that's right, with a total-loss 8/80.
The engine shown in the car is one I dropped in for the show just to fill the space. Engine mountings and exhaust pipes line up exactly.
It's one of the 1950-on 'Mk1', 1100cc engines which developed directly out of the 8/80 - mainly used in Coopers for some circuit racing and to dominate hillclimbing in the '50s.
