'The Dirt' is New Zealand's high class magazine, mainly devoted to midget cars and sprint cars, very similar to the old USA's 'Open Wheel.' It carries features on modern drivers, old-timers, lots of high clalibre glossy photos (both historical and modern), many portrait. Printed on high gloss paper, each magazine measures approx 24cms x 30cms, with a cover charge of 10NZ dollars (approx £5).
The Dirt magazine was produced by the current promotion team at Western Springs. Unfortunately it was also produced at a huge loss and stopped being published in 2009. I am sure in the future old copies will command big price.
A magazine called National Speedway Scene was launched in 2009, but this is currently not being produced due to problems with payments from distributors, hopefully it will continue in the future either in a hard copy or online format. While it covered all NZ Speedway there was an open wheel bias.
NZ Dirt Track is a monthly newspaper that has been going now since 1986 and covers all NZ Speedway, but with a stockcar bias.
