Hi, I'm looking for some information on my grandad Graham Beattie, who raced midget cars in the late 50's early 60's (I Think).
He passed away a few years ago and I'm trying to pull together some information/pictures surrounding his midget car racing and speedway racing exploits.
Any advice on where I could gather any info/pictures/programmes would be much appreciated,
Thanks

There is a reference to Graham Beattie - albeit brief - on this site. Go to:
UK MIDGET CAR HISTORY BY JOHN HYAM CHAPTER 13 THE FORGOTTEN MIDGETS
The mention is as follows: "One of the last outings for the 500cc midgets was at the Leicester speedway track in Blackbird Road on Friday, April 20, 1962. It featured a team match between Leicester and Wolverhampton which the former won.
"The teams were: Leicester - Bob Garside, Graham Beattie, Roy Cox and Harry Van law. Wolverhampton included the experienced former Skirrow midget driver Dave Hughes along with Art Crane, Cyril Crane and Al Holloway. The man behind the venture was Ron Wilson, a former speedway rider who had also raced Skirrows during the 1950s."

I have a Belle Vue speedway programme from when Graham rode speedway in which he is listed as a rider and has a short editorial piece. My father drove midgets at the time and I Know thay he knew your grandad. If you would like the programme you are welcome to it if you can let me have your address. Jakck Butterworth.
