This is my Dad's resto-recreation of the Harry McQuinn Elto that won numerous championships circa 1937. McQuinn went on to become Cheif Steward at Indianapolis. He had some running gear parts from it to start with. First photo is from a mid 1980s magazine color feature story they did on it. No modern parts. T-front, T rear, right angle gear box, overhauled Elto engine. All alum body with no filler. Brass radiator. Rest of photos as it sits in our heated and cooled collection room. Could use some freshening up of some of the chrome parts, that can be taken off easily. Asking $25,000 Attachments:

I cannot deny that I was anything other than enthralled to see these photos. I must say that photos are very much the strong point of this site. The more the merrier.

Hello all; Poor health has me liquidating entire collections, (tens of thousands of Mostly aviation historical items, art, documents signed items parts etc) Have sold three of the cars. The race cars are highest quality. We have had more magazine colour feature vintage race cars that I can count, over the years. My Dad professionally built nearly 200 race cars, (He EVEN did major body work and new streamlining for the famous Bluebird LSR car-I have numerous photos to prove that) between 1938-and 1960s. then we restored 38 vintage racers from the 1970's to 1990, together. He was a perfectionist, so cars have correct parts and accessories throughout. We had even won one of the most competitive judging events for such, agains the best-of-the best restorers and collectors, winning National First Prize in the race car Class at the national Fall Hershey AACA meet. But due to circumstances, I am accepting offers on this car, now. *NOTE: If you type Elto race car, into the you-tube search box, you can see a couple of vidos of a couple of OUR other Eltos being run by a museum that owns and exhibits them, in Alaska, with such great fun involved. Great videos!

Hi; We had found a fair number of original tires over the years but most of them were hard as rocks, after decades of storage( and Dad Still had a big bunch of 12" tires he had gotten "stuck with," when he and a friend cornered the market of the 12 inch tires, and the rules were changed to 13 inches!) Most were then given away to a friend of his, who owned a boat marina to use as boat bumpers at docks. It was amusing to go back to the marina, and find some again, 40 years later I just checked the tires on the orange Elto. Front tires are 4.00 x 12 Hwa Fong 4 ply. (rounded tread). Rear tires are 4.80 x 12 Carlisle with flat tread. And I am certain that the tires on our Skirrow are/were the same ones that we kept on it , as they had been for the previous four decades in Museum and our collection room. Don't remember size but know they were Michelins. But we got a lot of good 12 inch tires for restorations, from local hardware stores that sold spare tires, and tubes (and steel wheels that we cut the centers out of and replaced the four hole pattern with a six hole center plate) for boat trailers. I think most of the tubes were from Japan. Some of the tires were from U.S. others from Japan. Havent ought any in over 20 years, though....So...?

Yes it still has the Michelins and none of the local tyre people have been able to get the tyres off; I would keep them if the could be removed and fitted but I feel I have to replace the tubes. For the moment I am stuck but I'll keep looking Otherwise the chassis has been restored with one new rear axle, new sprockets, new flexible drives, new bearings etc etc. mainly though the BSA Front Wheels Drive Club which has a goods spares scheme. I have managed to the correct Rudge clutches to go with the Rudge countershaft boxes. I have picked up a, early post-war JAP with correct width then managed to find the correct barrels. Is the Elto still for sale and how 'original' is it?

Is there any chance of putting a photo of the sprint car up in the sprint car section please? I would love to see it. As you say, the Elto is absolutely superb. My thanks in anticipation...and crossed fingers? My favourite this forum is to see photos but there doesn't seem to have been many posted here of late.

Yes, I would also like to see as suggested a photo of the sprint car if that's a possibility.

Entertaining any reasonable? offer on the Elto, above. (Can be picked up for fast, easy, economical, transport in a full-size pick-up. IF you bring two strong friends.) Also should have a cargo container going to NZ, in months to come.. Car is always a crowd favorite... More info, or discussion can go through contact info on my website: www.memaerobilia.com
