This photo is for sale on ebay, as a 1938 photo reprint does anybody know who/what/where? The only name mentioned is Chiswell Wilcox. Attachments:

Found it, scanned it, sent it to John, who's already posted it in the thread Worldwide Introduction under France. My/our guesses about the where/when are based on the banked velodrome in the rear ground, making it the Stad Buffalo (I reckon) and I dated it by the people involved versus a programme scan we have here. I don't think the seller really knows much about it Rod, as so often seems to be the case.

The photo was taken at Buffalo stadium Pari1947 (I think) The guy on the second left is Frank Chiswell, who won the event, fourth left is Walter Mackereth. I think I may have sent a copy of the programme to Graham if not let me know and I'll email a copy.

Yes Derek, it was you who very kindly sent me the prog scan originally, and it is indeed the one you've posted Rod. Between us all we can probably get to the bottom of almost any historical mystery I reckon! Almost....

THIS TOPIC HAS BEEEN MOVED TO GENERAL DISCUSSIONS, THANKS ROD. ADMIN, MCP
I Know this is probably the wrong page for this, but here is a puzzle for you. Before the outbreak of WW2, my uncle, who used to go racingwith my dad, insists that Belle Vue (E O Spence) was at an advanced stage of organizing a group of midget cars and drivers to race in America. It was obviously called off. Can anyone confirm this?

Can you give me his name? Sorry I have no details or know anything about the proposed 1939 ti to America.
