Below is a list of all the Midget Car Races I know of for 1936.
BELLE VUE (all second-half events)
Sat April 25th "........Bill Kitchen drove the winning car and Stanley ‘Acorn” Dobson was second."
Sat May 2nd "..In a Midget Car Race Kitchen beat Dobson, who hit the fence, and
another race was won by Frank Marsh."
Sat May 9th "...A Midget Car Race was won by Bruce Warburton with Eric Worswick second."
Sat May 23rd "..A good Midget Car Race was won by E Worswick with Kitchen second.
The time of 85.6sec for four laps sets up a record to be aimed at in later
races."
Mon Aug 3rd "...F Alexander won in 85.6sec and Bruce Warburton won another race."
Sat Sept 19th "... There was a nasty accident in the Midget Car event when Arthur
Marcus crashed and suffered shock and bruises. The race was won by
E Worswick."
Sat Sept 26th "...Worswick won the car race easily."
Sat Oct 3rd "...A Midget Car Race was won by A Marcus with A Dobson second."
Sat Oct 17th ".... and a Midget Car Race was won by Kitchen with Worswick second."
I gleaned all this information from National Daily Newspapers I'm sure that if I look at the local Manchester evening papers there would be regular reports of Midget Car Races that took place after the Speedway matches.
Other races that I know of that year are:-
WEMBLEY (again all second-half events)
Thur Aug 17th Harry Skirrow v Billy Murden - Skirrow crashed and had to be taken to
hospital. He was later released on Tuesday Aug 22nd.
Thur Sept 17th I think there was a race on this date, but I have mislaid the references.
SOUTHAMPTON
Tue Sept 1st 1) Gordon Handy v Putt Mossman (dead heat)
2) Handy beat Mossman (NF)
BRISTOL
Fri Oct 16th Midget Car Challenge Match. Ron Wills beat Tommy Sulman 2-1 in a
best of three match races.
I've also read somewhere that Billy Murden fractured an arm and leg at a meeting at Dagenham in the Autum of 36.
By the way there were also a couple of match races at Belle Vue in 1940.
