Did the Australian driver Jack Brabham really race midget cars in the 1940s before moving on to big circuit car racing.

As far as I know, yes he did. I think this topic came up in another thread, because I seem to remember asking the question, 'Did he ever race at California (Longmoor, not USA!)?', because I think I recall having read somewhere that he did. It's probably a myth perpetrated by my dodgy memory though...

I read somewhere his first race car was a Skirrow. Can't remember where I saw that.

Just read on a website about Jack Brabham that he won four Midget titles, 1948-49-50-51 in a Midget built be himself and a friend. No mention of any other Midget.

If remember correctly Jack Brabhan mentions Skirrows in an inteview he did for Motor Films Quartly, volume one. I think the interview covers his early years on the dirt in Oz. the DVD is still available.

He had avery successful career in midgets. He also did a lot of the machine work himself. He was a multiple champion before embarking on his next challenge.
