With restored Allard dragsters creating a lot of interest at various shows it would be good to see this car out promoting Allards oval racing heritage. Regarding earlier comments on this thread maybe the GPMC have set off far enough along the rear engine route not to be worried by a front engine dirt racing alternative. Compared to the Dastle / Westfield spaceframe the Kurtis type of classic midget is so simple to replicate being two large diameter parallel tubes with various connecting hoops, throw in a mildy tuned Zetec or similar and its got to be a cheap form of racing that would appeal to the crowds - we got a great reception when we raced at Belle Vue and Sheffield and also Coventry where I did a demonstration at an F1 meeting - course its the wrong time to propose a new formula but is there ever a right time

IMO ez out of all the current running front engined cars the dastle mk7 is the most straight forward to copy the mk18 isnt to bad if you have the jigs (hang on i have them) as for the westfield there just a nightmare as your proberly well aware having raced one, I never did manage to get the rear end straight after buckland rear ended me at buxton will chop it off and try again one day lol. if you were seriously thinking of starting a dirt formula there should be enough cars about in peoples garges to go out racing that havnt seen the track for years. i know of a few mk7 dastles sat around that the owners wont sell but might bring out if given the chance to do something cheap and be able to win without having to spend a a few grand on a engine just to stay on the same lap as everyone else. i like the thoughts on lightly modified engine but what about a non modified 2.0 then there isnt anycost other than what you pay on ebay for it?? bolt in and go get rid of the rose joints so you have abit less to replace if you bump the list of cut backs that you could make is endless to keep the costs down of both building and racing
