MARC Minutes of Meeting dated 2nd March 1975 tell us that a press day had been booked for White City Stadium on Sunday 23rd March that year. "Many celebrities have been invited."

Aha! I'll not ask how long it took to search that out Richard! Now, that is long after the ill-fated Stadium Racing of '71. Interestingly though, it is also after Spedeworth had ceased to use White City, which closed as a stock car track in the early months of the previous year. As Spedeworth would most likely have taken the fence with them when they went (promoters always do, the posts and cables cost money and can always be used elsewhere) and there is definitely a fence of sorts in the background of the Moss photo, I'm wondering if this event mentioned in the MARC minutes is the same one the photos come from? Alternatively, were there two such events? It would explain b&w photos from one and colour from another, and Hill's different style of dress.

Just for fun, here's the prog from that day. The notes make no mention of Moss incidentally, just that "Many well-known personalities are expected to put in an appearance tonight".

I had a look for some more Stirling Moss stuff and there's a picture of him in Cliff Davis's car that was published in 1974 (Speed and Power magazine) so that was certainly before the 1975 press day I mentioned at White City. That particular mag had some nice colour shots from 1967/68. They had hot rods and superstox featured on different occasions as well.

Stirling drove the Cliff Davis car at White City in 1971 as it was reported in Motor magazine week ending st January 1972...
"Our second more recent look at midget racing took place at White City where the unlikely trio of Stirling Moss, Tony Lanfranchi and John Webb were seen on the circuit at once."
The pictures in the article contained the same ones re-used in the 1974 magazine Speed and Power.
