Did midget car racing ever take place at Staines because they held speedway there at the end of the 1930s and stock cars also ran at Staines from about 1954 to 1962.

According to the invaluable Homes of British Speedway, Staines opened as a greyhound track on January 21st 1928, staged speedway in 1938/9 only, and ran midgets in 1947. It opened as a stock car track on Good Friday April the 8th 1955 and closed to make way for the Staines by-pass on June 17th 1960. That by-pass became part of the M25 in due course, and today virtually the entire site is beneath the M25, approximately adjacent to the A30/M25 interchange.

Here's a further update re Staines Stadium, mentioned in the quote, as staging midget cars in 1947.
