Rod - can you see if Pat would like to be included on the GPMC Heritage newsletter list?
I have some negatives of one of the Emery V8s but I can't say the car looks the same. Isn't it the "Wedge" that Ez Walker was referring to?

I believe Pat sadly passed away in 2007. I found this tribute on the net: www.realclassic.co.uk/newsfiles/news07110100.htmlHe was obviously a very talented engineer and I can remember seeing some bikes in his workshop in Bristol when I went down there - the workmanship was outstanding and he was clearly a real enthusiast.

It's Geoff Rumble's new Dastle as it debuted at Wimbledon Stadium on 17th May 1969. That's Mick Miller in 22 on the outside. The blocks on the ground, bottom left of shot, were one of many things tried by Spedeworth to mark the inside of the stock car track (as opposed to the inside shale speedway track).

Thanks Richard, are you saying that it was the original Dastle midget?, and do you know why they are facing the wrong way? And who is sat in it please

Definitely Wimbledon, and I would say they are probably facing the wrong way as they are on the grand parade. Those metal "planks" were good for many a cut side wall on people's tyres. They also used to break the links apart sometimes and great long sausages of them would end up being dragged round the track!

Geat pic and the indy car did run on 10" wheels in the photos I've seen - as far as I recall it started off with a beam front axle later changed to independent so maybe not its first meeting. Great pic's of the Pat French car and does have the look of a V8 Dastle. I seem to remember a meeting at Hednesford where there were three V8's running but the class never took off beyond that

I have been browsing this great debate and wonder if we are going to see any more car photos put up on here? It would be really great to see one of Geoff Rumble. Any news update on him? I hope he's still around but guess he's long ago given up on midget cars. Wasn't Geoff in that group that tried to get involved with the bike speedways - that must have been about 20 years ago now?
