I know it's difficult to tell from the amount of background in shot, but that really doesn't look like Aldershot. Although, I suppose it may just have changed quite a bit between '57 and when I first saw it a decade later.

Remember Aldershot was originally just a speedway and greyhound track. But that does not mean this is Aldershot - obviously it would have been at a speedway track rather than a stock car venue. Percy Brine was the older brother of speedway rider Cyril Brine (Wimbledon) and himself a former speedway rider.

Willie, by '57 Aldershot (Tongham) would have been a both a speedway and a stock car track. But as you say, this still might not be Aldershot anyway. I agree, the background looks like a speedway, but don't be too sure that there's no stock car connection. Percy "Hellcat" Brine was also a stock car driver in the pioneering days, one of the first sponsored racers and winner of the final at the first ever Coventry meeting. I daresay the stox gave him something to do for excitement, as I believe he was forced to give up speedway after losing his sight in one eye, around '51 or '52. Clearly a man with a foot in both camps, so to speak, would have made an ideal convert to midgets, or even just a great test driver.
