Skirrow driver Laurie Maxton is claimed to have raced in France in 1947, and also Australia - the Sydney tracks - in either the 1946-47 or 1947-48 seasons. Is more known of him - he may have been Scottish and a protege of Frank Chiswell. Thanks.

Toby, I have a scan of a Stad Buffalo (Paris) programme dated 12/13-7-47, which was kindly sent to me by Derek Bridgett. I'd like to post it here, but you know all about that topic, I think! Anyway, the drivers list does indeed include Laurie Maxton, and he is described as being "champion d'Ecosse". Whether this means he really was the Scottish champion, or simply Scottish, I don't know. Interestingly, Frank Chiswell is also down to race.
