14 September 2021 - Instigated by Ben Pashley, there have been three classic Midget outings at Swaffham. As you may know, there has been some talk about getting some circuit time for drivers with classic cars. Some enquiries were made about track days or meetings which led to Vince O'Connor offering time at the Rolling Thunder shows at Swaffham.
Ben, Eddy Ricketts and Steve Lay have had some track time so far and it's expected that several other cars will be on the tarmac in the future. These runs are along the same lines as the Old Skool Superstox which means they are non-competitive demonstrations. Overtaking is allowed of course but there are no titles up for grabs.
Again, like the Old Skool Superstox, the idea is not just for track time but for some static shows as well - so hopefully these will become social events too. The Superstox formula is mix of original restored cars along with purpose built replicas. There are plenty of original cars around and I understand that two mk4 Fireball replicas are being built also.
There has been a very enthusiastic response to the Classics both in terms of spectators who had not seen them before and several names from the formula - both recent and older - have indicated that they would like to get involved.
...and now you must excuse me, I need to have my nap...
There's lots of pics and we carried out 6 meetings at swaffham with the Rolling Thunder Show and we have a further 12 meetings booked for 2022 at swaffham on the following dates if anyone would like to come and see us. Ben
