Saturday 22 August 1953, Stepps
(Kirkintilloch Herald, 26 August 1953) About 5,000 to 6,000 people watched the midget car racing at Stepps Stadium, on Saturday, 22nd August. The independent championship was won by Arch Handscombe. T. Forster ran into a lamp standard. He was removed to the Royal Infirmary, Glasgow, with chest injuries, but was not detained.

(Kirkintilloch Herald, 2 September 1953) At Stepps Stadium on Saturday, 29th August, the winning pair were Arch Handscomb and Jimmy Lang.
Saturday 12 September 1953, Stepps
(Kirkintilloch Herald, 16 September 1953) Midget car racing took place at Stepps Stadium on Saturday evening, when there was a race between a midget car and a speedway bike on the small track. Racing took place on the large track at an average speed of 60 miles per hour. The car 88, ridden by James Reid, took fire, but he jumped clear with his trousers on fire. By rolling himself on the ground extinguished the fire but the car was burnt out.
