Saturday 28 March 1959, Coventry Preview - Coventry Coventry Evening Telegraph, 26 March 1959 Midget Car Aces on Brandon Bill
Three of Britain's leading midget car racing drivers, will compete in Saturday's motor sports programme which opens the 1959 season at Brandon Stadium. Making his first visit to the Coventry circuit will be Doc Garth, the British midget car champion, who has held the title since 1956. Garth, who comes from Manchester, has held grass track and sidecar road racing titles. Also in the impressive line-up will be Mike Parker, the Blackpool star, and Bruce Blood, who holds the Northern stock car racing championship.

Racing in go-karts, speedcars, outfits and on speedway machines was included in Saturday's end of season "Cavalcade of Speed" at Brandon Stadium. In a special match between the 500cc midget car of Mike Parker and Bill Billman's 1,000cc speedcar, driven by Scott Lees, Parker won in two straight races in 75.8 and 76.2 secs.
