For the past 15 years I have watched efforts to popularise sprint car racing in the UK, mainly through the promotional efforts of the Rolling Thunder Show. Sadly the breakthrough has not come and, as with midget car racing in Britain remains very much in the back stream when one compares with what we have in this country against the high geared racing that takes place in the USA, Australia and the USA. At the moment I have a cautious opinion of the proposed new format of sprint car racing which will be seen on long tracks in the forthcoming 2019 season. While a fixture list has been issued for 2019 so far key data have yet to be provided by the formula's controllers. The main one is how many cars and drivers are there? What experience do they have in regard to the concept of the formula in other parts of the world. I also have a concern in regard to the actual appearance of the cars as seen in the previous Post. In many, many ways they do not have a strong resemblance to the sprint cars used in the formula's mainstream countries. For me the proposed new formula are more akin to a new class of racing for action in the UK rather than extending sprint car racing in the UK. For all my present misgivings, I wish all success to it. Any maybe as more publicity in regard to it appears my concerns will be reduced. I sincerely hope so. And one crucial last point: where does all this leave the present RTS backed sprint car scene?

We have had some excellent build-up to this new version of sprint car racing, but three essential factors have so far not been addressed: (1) How many cars are anticipated to be competing at the start of the season? (2) Names and some background data on potential drivers. (3) Where does all this leave the present RTS backed sprint car scene?

(2) Names and some background data on potential drivers. (3) Where does all this leave the present RTS backed sprint car scene? I agree with the comments made previously. After a great initial publicity start these three items have apparently gone off the boil. But TBH I am sceptical that we will find out more in regard to the RTS sprint cars - from what I can see that sprint car version has over the past18 months seemingly gone into some sort of decline.

It's more than a month since we last had some information about the proposed long track series for 2019. One would have thought that by now its backers would have been churning out publicity - especially in regard to who will be driving the cars. It all reminds of the famed (mis)quotation "The silence is deafening!"
