An excellent start to the 2018 season with a very healthy grid of 17 cars, with the presentation of the cars reaching an all time high in recent club history. Everyone seemed to be well on the pace with drivers from each of the grades all getting good results. Huge congratulations to #595 Jamie Young on winning first time out in his new self built car, taking the win in both Heats & 5th place in the Final. Also congratulations to #31 Jonathan Pooley on picking up where he left off in 2017 by winning the meeting Final. Commiserations to #2 Mark Greensmith who looked to have the Final won but was overtaken on the penultimate bend, he gave it everything he had and certainly made for an exciting conclusion to the evening. Also commiserations to the returning #208 Andy Collins who had differential troubles which put him out of the meeting after the clutch start in Heat 1, we will have to wait just a little bit longer to see the former World Champion back in action. All in all it was a very good start to the season with the future looking promising, a huge thank you to everyone who made it along to the meeting today (those on & off the track) we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible next weekend at Buxton Raceway.Attachments:

Forwarded message sent by Richard Bunn to Grand Prix Midgets Results from today's meeting at Swaffham Raceway, Sunday 6th May 2018.
Drivers in attendance:- #3 Leon Smith #10 David Bonser #23 Clifford Bunn #25 Alex Butcher #27 Peter Gillett #31 Jonathan Pooley #32 Daniel Pooley #33 Gordon Pooley #37 Tony Smith #40 Steve Sutch #77 Neil Clarke #148 Malcolm Fozzy Foskett Heat 1:- 1st 37, 2nd 31, 3rd 25, 4th 32, 5th 23, 6th 27, 7th 3, 8th 77, 9th 10, 10th 40, NOF.
Heat 2:- 1st 32, 2nd 25, 3rd 37, 4th 31, 5th 3, 6th 40, 7th 77, 8th 27, NOF.
Final:- 1st 32, 2nd 31, 3rd 25, 4th 3, 5th 77, 6th 27, 7th 40, NOF.
Today saw the return of #148 Malcolm Foskett in his smartly repainted car which was a nod back to his old Super Rod colours, he & brother Trevor Eric Foskett had done a fine job on the paintwork. However Malcolm was one of the not so lucky ones in Heat 1 with a stuck throttle linkage! Luckily though he had #32 Daniel Pooley to act as cushion between him and the wall. Daniel escaped with no damage but Malc’s engine suffered and as a result was done for the day. On the plus side however it was great to see #37 Tony Smith pick up his first win of the season, even if his day did end with a striped 2nd gear in the final. Also it was another strong performance from #25 Alex Butcher with a second place and two third place finishes, just narrowly missing out on victory.
See you all in 2 weeks time at Hednesford Hills Raceway for the 2018 Grand Prix Midget British Championship & Round 4 of the McGill Motorsports National Points Championship.Attachments:
