KIT Henry, who is based in Ohio, USA, is seeking information a midget car that he bought at a ‘barn sale” and belives may have been built in Britain in the mid-1960s.
Henry said: “The car may have been built in place with items originally used in the Standard Vanguard saloon car? It is possibly powered by an Ensign Deluxe motor and transmission and possibly has a rear end of that type.
“I found the following on the RR frame :
227-T14
20-234 A
No 2 of 2
Henry added, “The engine is possibly four-cylinder Ensign Deluxe with side draft su carbs. It is very similar to an old Triumph engine. It is electric start with a transmisson.
“ A unique feature that may help with identification is that the throttle pedal is to the inside of the brake pedal against the centre shroud/driveshaft cover, clutch pedal to the left.
“The car has independent rear suspension with a full cross over spring and the front is also the transverse spring across.
“I bought the car was purchased in Florida area. It was a light/baby blue when purchased. The car is fitted with a bolt-on roll bar, single rear hoop/
Henry added, “Did they race anything like these midgets in the UK during the 1960s?”
Henry added, “My guess is that the car may be one of two built in a home based deal.
In descrining the photos, Henry said: “There are photos of the front suspension and rear suspension with the rear shroud removed.
“This midget appears to be based on the Vanguard/Standard Deluxe automobile of the late 1950s”
