There were British Championships in the 1930s, offhand they were all won by Walter Mackereth. However I do not have the years but they were probably 1937, 1938 and 1939. Nothing as grandiose as a world championship in the UK in those days. Probably because Alvin Rhiando was the only overseas driver (or was he?) and claiming to be both an American and a Canadian at that time. I think an Australian may have raced briefly at Stoke in 1938 - not sure of that.
