I really like the look of this car. It's very much like what I have always thought os as a classic midget car design. Is more known about the car please?

Its a dastle mk3 raced in the late 60's and the 70's it was sold to a guy in Itally about 10years as a wreak and has done a amazing job of restoring it Ovaltrak or ez walker will be able to give you some more details of the drivers ext prior to it being found in a shed

My understanding is that it belonged to Denis Jenkinson "Jenks", the well known motorsport and motoring journalist. I think that Jenks took part in some of the early Spedeworth Midget demonstrations which would have been in 1967 - there are a couple of magazine pictures from the time which appear to show him driving an un-numbered type3 Dastle at Wimbledon stadium. We think that's the car. Whilst the end result of this work is a pleasing looking car, one cannot say it is a restoration since the car was never like that in the first instance.

Assuming this car is the one I sold to Italy about ten years ago the owner has done an amazing job putting it back together as it was totally derelict when he picked it up. Unfortunately I am unable to load pictures onto here but think I put some on the GP midget facebook page a while back of what it looked like when I had it. I don't think it was ever the red car that Dennis Jenkinson drove in early demonstrations but it was found in a shed on his property after he passed away and I purchased it from the new owners. With early history now much improved the car appeared to have been #44 at one time and as well as green had previously been metalflake purple so maybe Richard could suggest early pwners

The only 44 in that era that I can find is Phil Boyt of the MARC. He raced a Dastle but no idea if that's the one. We'll probably never know - in much the same way as we'll never have all the results in one place.

What problem did you have here? Was it to upload some images.I ask because I notice in subsequent messages that images by other Posters have appeared. Thank you?

When I try to upload images it goes into load mode but never completes uploading - also if there are supposed to be four pictures from Ben on this post I cannot open them.
There is a picture in Richard's Backtrack book of Rod Tanswell racing a similar green mk3 and on the following page a purple one in the background. Also on the recent archive photos put on the GP Midgets facebook page there was a good picture of a purple Dastle mk3.

MY RESPONSE TO THE ATTEMPT: The image started to upload, then I received a message that the group's Upload limit had been exceeded. That indicated to me it was possibly because in certain cases the server Proboards makes a financial charge for this service. We did have this arrangement some years ago - members used to make a financial contribution for the service - but the arrangement was discarded. Be that as it may, I do see some images have been uploaded to the group recently. TBH I have no idea what the Posters concerned were able to do this. Do any group members have any ideas on what is happening please?

I see there is Photo confusion and am now going to place a midget car photo on here. It's nothing to do wth Castle type 3 but just a photo to see what happens to me. Here goes then -- I have entered Add Attachment - now it's all in the hands of the site - Going to click on Add Attachment at top right I clicked on a picture and was told the Forum had exceeded its Attachment Limit whatever that means so I guess that photos are out for the time being. It's up to the guys who Moderate to sort this out as I reckon it.

This is a forum image test. The photo is of Swedish speedway rider Tommy Johansson I AGAIN ATTEMPTED TO UPLOAD AND WAS REFUSED - THE MESSAGE SAID THAT THE MAXIMUM LIMIT HAD BEEN EXCEEDED FOR IMAGES. I made test posts of images (Swedish speedway rider Tommy Johansson) on three associate groups (1) The Weird World of Speedway, (2) London Speedways, (3) Crystal Palace Motorsport where the photo image was accepted. It therefore appears that the problem in regard to image uploading is peculiar to this forum.

I have a suspicion that the uploading of very large images may be a key to the current problems in this regard on the site. I have reduced the size of one image from castle type 3 from 21cms wide to a more modest 10cms. Now I am going to try and Post it here.

With reference to my previous message. The attempt ws unsuccessful - I had the message that the maximum for the site had been exceeded. TBH I just have no idea how to overcome this annoying problem. Does any member have a possible solution?
