The name Adolf Pabst has come up in regard to the England v Continent 1935 matches. Was he a genuine as it sounds German driver or a creation for the series - looks suspiciously like an incarnation of our old friend Spike Rhiando to me. But I could - and hope - that I am wrong and that there was a German driver around in the formula's pioneer days.

Scattered around various pages on the site there are references to Adolf Pabst. It looks as though he was active as far back as the 1934 start at Crystal Palace and was still driving at Lea Bridge probably as late as 1938. Somewhere I've seen a photo of him with other drivers - I think one was Victor Gillow - in a car action shot taken at LB in '37.I have never seen any reference to Pabst being a German but with his name it would have fitted the promoter's bill to describe him as such when a meeting needed an international flavour.
