This midget car name from the early 1930s has been passed on to me by a speedway friend -the Salmson Special. It's a new one for me - so far as I can recall!

Les White had a Salmson special until he got a Skirrow. I have a few pics Having found the Salmson photo posted on MCP by haflinger, if there are more photos I am sure that along with others we would like to see them . I wonder if this was the car Les (aka Ells) White was using in the England v Continent test match at Lea Bridge in June 1935?

Currently exhausted by experience of setting up a Facebook group - Facebook is run by the same dopes who are responsible for ProBoards.

Three great photos. Is any more known about the "other car and driver" to be seen? And there looks to be a fairly good crowd watching proceedings. I take it this is old Barnet track?

Yes it is Barnet 1935 but I have no other details. I am not sure how much has been written up on the pre-Skirrow days. Certainly I would like to know more and need to spend some time on it. The other driver was Victor Gillow who was well-known in motorsport circles but I don't know much about him myself.

All I know about Victor Gillow is that he seems to have been prominent in the early 1934 meetings held mainly at Crystal Palace. I am certain though that he continued in the formula for some years after that.

I assume it's the same 1930s driver? www.austinharris.co.uk/search/Victor%20Gillow?f[0]=taxonomy_vocabulary_8%3A1809www.austinharris.co.uk/driver/victor-gillow
