There was midget racing at Harringay and the old Tongham (Aldershot speedway) in the 1970s and 1980s. This was by the Greand Prix Midget Car Club. I am keen to know more about what happened at Harringay where the legendary Mike Parker was the promoter. There was also a bid to try and get midgets on as a second half attraction to the 1980s speedway races at Wimbledon. Tony Stubbs, Alan Fretten, Peter and John Smith, Ian Fraser Kerr (South Africa), 'Desperate' Dan Hornby and Dermot McGivern were involved in these ventures. This was organised by a rival group to the GP MIdget Car Club? Dose anyone know more about any of this?

This is the first I have heard about midget cars appearing at Harringay Stadium in North London in post-war years. I have an idea they did appear at the Green Lane Stadium in the late 1930s with all-time great Walter Mackereth among the drivers. I treat with scepticism the comment in regard to Harringay putting midgets on in the 1980s.

Harringay ran under the auspices of the MARC when it started in 1971 - the MARC was a breakaway from Spedeworth who had (re)-introduced Midgets in 1968.
With regard to the 1980s dates this is probably covered elsewhere on the forum under NAMICSA

OK: first of all, there was racing at Harringay, post-war. The Parker Midgets visited in 1959 for a start....Attachments:

And finally, just for good measure, here's something from 1937 involving Walter Mackereth.Attachments:
