This is very much a European biased world championship. Can anyone tell me if drivers from either USA, New Zealand, Australia or even South Africa have ever been involved in the championship. From what I can see its only ever been England (or Britain), Holland and Germany involved.

I definitely remember a South African racing in the world championship round about 2005/6 and there were moves to bring an American Lady midget racer over sometime in the 2000's which fell down on sponsorship grounds. Midget News from Short Circuit July 1981 by Jack Brodie MARIA HOPES FOR WORLD FINAL American woman driver Maria Alaina Schneider will know this month if she can drive in the world championships at Recklinghausen, West Germany, in September. Miss Schneider, who won a big reputation when touring Australia with Gary Howard last winter, is keen to show her paces in this meeting. Main snag involves return fares from California for Miss Schneider and her father-mechanic Pete, a former star driver. And there's also the question of providing Miss Schneider with a car.
